The Little Ouse river runs through the heart of the Brecks, one of the most distinctive natural areas in Britain. Join naturalist and landscape explorer Jon Tyler to experience the natural beauty of the Brecks its wildlife and historic sites to be found alongside the river. Following sections of the Hereward Way and St Edmunds way, our route will run upstream beginning in the Brandon and ending up in the ancient town of Thetford. Along the way we will take in a bronze age tumulus, St Helens Well, access a section of the old river walk (not normally accessible) and finish up at St Mary’s Priory, one of East Anglia’s most important monastic sites.
Suitable for dogs on leads.
Suitable for adults (16 years and over).
Moderate – Up to 9 miles / 15km long.
MEETING POINT: By the Little Ouse sign at the entrance to Riverside way, opposite The Bridge Hotel, Brandon.
