All Abilities Norfolk Walking Festival

Welcome to the Pathmakers Norfolk Walking Festival.

This year we are joining with the Norfolk County Council Jubilee celebrations and promoting some exciting walks designed to be accessible to as many people as possible.  Next year we will build on the Norfolk County Council festivals, with an independent annual event celebrating Norfolk’s countryside and green spaces with a range of self led and guided walks for all abilities.

Norfolk County Council Environment Team developed a Norfolk Walking Festival concept and has run five festivals to date:

·       2015 – the Explore More Coast Festival – focussed on promoting short circular walks around the new section 1 of the England Coast Path (ECP) in North East Norfolk between Cromer and Sea Palling.

·       2016, 2017 and 2018  the Pushing Ahead Festival, focussed on Norwich and Great Yarmouth and the new section 2 of the ECP between Sea Palling and Gorleston with a number of county wide events

·       2019 the Coastal Treasures Festival and focussed on North West Norfolk and the new section 4 of the ECP between Kings Lynn and Heacham.

·       Plans for 2020 and 2021 were postponed due to COVID

This year we will be picking up the baton and running the walknorfolk2022 festival with a focus on all abilities walking and testing the water for a larger event next year. There will be a range of events designed to meet the needs of people who may not have thought walking was for them, or who have difficulty getting out. So if you have less mobility and need a seat, want to know where there is parking / café nearby or just where you will be welcomed and are allowed to walk, this festival will be an ideal place to start. There will be short walks and longer walks, with information about links to public transport and car parks.
