Little Ouse Walk and Wade: Hear history of work and fun in the river, and dip your feet in its clear waters

This guided history walk takes us on a lovely path beside the river Little Ouse, then over the bridge where historic riverside inns past and present served pilgrims and other travellers on this important river and country crossing point over many centuries. We will walk along the tree-lined Victoria Avenue that is a hidden jewel in Brandon’s crown, past the lovely Orchard and through the town’s extensive green spaces, finishing with the chance to paddle in the clear waters from the slipway near the Staunch car park. Along the way we will hear stories of how people enjoyed the river and how navigation transported goods to and from the town and was an important part of its industry, and about the wildlife and landscape, and we can immerse ourselves in the surroundings along the way.

Please note that one section of the walk is on a pavement by a fairly busy road.

Parking is free – The car park near Brandon Staunch, which is a few minutes drive down a track from Brandon Leisure Centre (address for the leisure centre is Church Road, Brandon, Suffolk, IP27 0JB, but the meeting place is not here).
