Natterjack Toad Walk at Winterton 5th June 2026 8-10pm

5 June 2026 20:00 - 5 June 2026 22:00

As the sun dips below the horizon and dusk settles over the Norfolk coast, a hidden world begins to wake. Join Andrew Robinson of Fulfilment in Nature for a special guided evening walk through the stunning Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve.

The Magic of the Natterjack

The star of our evening is the rare and fascinating Natterjack Toad. Unlike the common toad, the Natterjack is famous for its distinctive yellow stripe and its “running” gait—but it is most renowned for its voice. On this walk, we will venture into the dunes for a chance to witness one of nature’s rarest sounds: the powerful, rasping chorus of the males as they call from the water’s edge.

We will also explore the vital work being done to protect this species. You’ll learn about the specialised dune pools, carefully maintained and created by Natural England, which provide the shallow, warm water these toads need to survive and thrive.
