WalkNorfolk25 – New Buckenham: Exploring a Landscape of Norman Lordship
Host – Richard Hoggett
The Norfolk village of New Buckenham preserves a planned Norman town laid out in the 11th and early 12th centuries. This walk will explore the castle around which the village was built, as well as walking the line of the moat which surrounded the settlement, the medieval street-grid, parish church and market place.
Most of the route is relatively flat but the approach to the castle is on grass and may be too wet for a wheelchair or a pushchair.
Please park in the playground car park to the east of the village or on the streets by the church.
The nearest toilet is in the parish church which is free to use. This is near to the start and end of the walk.
