Pathmakers has a simple but important mission: improving access to the Norfolk countryside for people of all abilities and backgrounds. Because everyone should be able to experience the natural beauty of our county – and the numerous benefits it can offer in terms of our physical and mental wellbeing.
As part of our mission, we partnered with Leathes Prior, a full service law firm established in 1867, to deliver an accessible, tailored walk for its employees. Like Pathmakers, Leathes Prior is an ardent supporter of all things Norfolk, and as part of the Norwich-based firm’s charity of the month initiative, they asked us to curate and lead a bespoke walk along our glorious coast.
After carefully planning and presenting a small selection of routes to Leathes Prior, the team chose Holkham as the backdrop to their walk. Led by Pathmakers trustee and vice chairman, Paul, 20 Leathes Prior employees (and two of their four-legged friends!) set out on a scenic, 7 kilometre walk across woodland, dunes, and North Norfolk’s sprawling, sandy coastline.
Rhiannon Bond, digital marketing executive at Leathes Prior, was responsible for setting up the walk with Pathmakers.
She told us: “We’re really passionate about supporting mental and physical wellbeing at Leathes Prior. We have our own wellbeing committee and run several different initiatives throughout the firm, so aligning our charity goals with Pathmakers felt like a natural progression.
“The walk was a great experience and encouraged us to get outside, away from the office, and I think walking in nature has had a really positive impact on our employees, especially in terms of team-building.
“Overall, it was a lovely experience. We’d like to partner with Pathmakers again in the future and explore a new location. It’s something I’d definitely recommend to other local businesses.
